Hi! I’m Sunny, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. As a South Asian male, I often get asked if I work in tech — it’s an easy assumption in the Seattle area. I smile and explain that I’m actually a therapist. It’s a small example of what it feels like to be seen through a stereotype, and part of why I care about helping people be understood for who they truly are.
As the son of Indian immigrants, I grew up straddling two cultures — respecting family traditions while figuring out who I wanted to be. That tension taught me about belonging, pressure, and identity, and it’s why I care about creating a space where you can bring your whole self without judgment.
Who I Work With
While I’m not an engineer, I’m tech-adjacent and familiar with tech culture. I work with teens, young adults, couples, and families navigating cultural expectations, intergenerational stress, and questions of identity. Many of my clients are also processing trauma, working through relationship challenges, or learning to quiet the self-doubt that gets so loud.
My Style
I may look young, but I bring experience from schools, community mental health, and group private practice. My approach is straightforward and practical: I listen closely and help you make sense of what’s happening in your life. Drawing on EMDR and narrative therapy, my work isn’t always tools-oriented — sometimes the process itself, and the stories we explore together, become the path to insight and change. You don’t need the “right words” to start — I want to meet you where you are.
Training & Background
Training-wise, I got my B.S. from the University of South Dakota where I majored in Psychology and minored in Chemistry. As an unhappy pre-med student, I was inadvertently giving free relationship advice to my friends in the school cafeteria. Realizing how often we miscommunicate with others, I went on to get my M.A. in Communication Studies. With a deep interest in couples work, I finally graduated Kansas State University with my M.S. in Couple and Family Therapy.
I have advanced training in EMDR, a trauma therapy that helps people process difficult experiences safely. I also use narrative therapy to support people navigating life’s transitions and finding clarity during times of change.

Outside of Sessions
I’m passionate about stories and what they teach us about identity, courage, and belonging. Growing up, I loved Superman — an immigrant on Earth who stood up for others — and Disney stories like Aladdin that celebrate adventure and possibility. I enjoy reading comics, exploring new places, and spending time with friends. As an avid traveler, I believe in the power of stepping outside our doors and into life’s adventures. These experiences remind me that humor, hope, and curiosity can carry us through hard stuff — and I bring that same energy into therapy.
If you want a space that’s culturally aware, straightforward, and supportive, I’d be glad to work with you.
