*I have a waitlist for insurance clients. I’m currently seeing private pay clients while my LMHCA license is pending with the Washington State Department of Health.

Hi, I’m Kristin (she/her). I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, spent a few years in Florida, and now call Washington home. Having navigated several major life transitions myself, I understand how hard it can be to start over and find your place in a new community. As an only child whose parents divorced early and whose father later passed from cancer, I’ve learned the deep importance of building meaningful connections — and of creating a “chosen family” wherever life takes me.

Turning adversity into growth

In my mid-twenties, I developed an autoimmune condition that led to multiple emergency surgeries and a long recovery. That experience changed me at my core. It pushed me to slow down, prioritize wellness and mindfulness, and live more intentionally. My discovery of yoga and my commitment to a holistic approach to health continue to influence how I show up for my clients. These personal chapters — of change, loss, and healing — shape how I hold space for others as they navigate their own turning points.

My path to counseling

Before becoming a therapist, I spent several years as an early childhood teacher after earning my B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Randolph-Macon College and my M.A. in Teaching from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. My time in the classroom sparked a deep curiosity about the emotional lives of students and their families, leading me to complete an M.S. in School Counseling from Walden University. Wanting to support people on a deeper level, I went on to earn a Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University.

My clinical interests

In private practice, I work with teens and adults exploring identity, purpose, and personal growth. I believe that everyone is working on something — and that therapy can be a place to discover who you are and who you want to be. My approach is grounded in connection, empathy, and collaboration. I strive to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and genuinely supported. In my work, I regularly seek consultation from colleagues, as well as my licensed supervisor, Ada Pang, MS, LMFT.

Outside the therapy room

Outside of work, I’m happiest outdoors — hiking or walking with my rescue dog, a pitbull mix. I used to be an avid runner, completing nine half marathons and running to raise awareness for my autoimmune condition. These days, I run occasionally, but I’m itching to get back into it. I’m also a farm-to-table foodie and loyal sports fan — cheering for Baltimore and Tampa teams, with the Mariners now joining the lineup. At the end of the day, you’ll often find me curled up with a good psychological thriller in hand.

Ready to begin your own process of growth and self-discovery? I’d love to meet you and see how we can work together.
