Walk and Talk Therapy with Teens and Adults
*I have a waitlist for insurance clients. I’m currently seeing private pay clients while my LMHCA license is pending with the Washington State Department of Health.
Hi, I’m Kristin, and I offer walk and talk therapy. Starting therapy can feel intimidating or awkward, and this approach provides a way to ease into it — making it feel more natural, comfortable, and approachable from the very first session.
Why walking outdoors helps
I’ve seen how powerful walking outdoors can be. Before private practice, I used this method with students as a school counselor. Stepping outside together often helped them feel more at ease and led to more honest, authentic conversations. Walking side by side, rather than sitting face-to-face, allows thoughts to flow more freely.
What to expect
In walk and talk therapy, we meet outdoors and take a gentle walk at your pace — no special fitness level or gear required. While movement itself is not the goal, it can be a helpful byproduct, reducing stress, boosting mood and energy, and supporting clarity, creativity, and focus on the present moment.
Being in nature also supports emotional processing, mindfulness, and productive dialogue, creating a unique space for growth and reflection.
Who this approach may help
This approach may be helpful if you:
Feel more comfortable moving or being outdoors
Struggle to open up in traditional office sessions
Experience anxiety, burnout, or restlessness
Spend a lot of time sitting at work or home and want the added benefit of movement
Want to integrate mindfulness and wellness into therapy
Why nature matters
Personally, I find that nature encourages perspective and balance. Like the seasons, change is constant, and growth often happens in small, steady steps. My goal is to provide a space where you can breathe, move, and process what’s on your mind while reconnecting with your body and the world around you.
